PeriData - Changes since version 3.7.0

Again we had many small changes and improvements. These are the most important.

New features

Single window opens automatically: When the visual fields are shown, the "Single Window" with the current (last) visual field opens together with the "Series Window". All with a single click !

Send patient data to the perimeter: This function has finished the BETA phase. In the option tab "Perimeter" > EXPORT INTERFACE you choose your perimeter. Then you can send the current patient name and birthdate with a click on a button or a keystroke to the perimeter. Now the name appears automatically in the instrument's program. This works with all Oculus and Octopus perimeters.

Symbol or number for minor total deviation values (defect depth): If total deviation values (defect depth) are small (between +4dB and -4dB), they are usually represented by a symbol (small circle or a plus sign). This supression can be switched off, showing all numerals.

Two normal colors: PeriData distinguishes by color between normal total deviation values above 0 (up to +4 dB, light green color) and normal total deviation values (defect depth) below 0 (down to -4 dB, dark green color). This function now can be switched off, showing a uniform dark green with numbers and color defect map for the "normal" range.

Zoom is easier: The Zoom dialog has been replaced by 2 Zoom buttons. The scale is changed in 5-degree steps. It is even easier with the keys CTRL and + (plus) or CTRL and - (minus). The Zoom dialog (key Z) and the keys 1, 3, 6 and 9 (10,30,60,90 degree) are active as before.

Option "Load last file": If PeriData ist started normally, and NO database is opened, then the last file will be opened automatically, if the option in ON. In the LinkMode with an EMR system, this option has no effect.

Window title shows more: If a perimeter interface is active for data import, the title of the program window shows the text "WAITING FOR DATA". In the LinkMode, the patient name is shown in the title.

Absolute defects as symbol: Points where the brightest stimulus was not seen (absolute defect) are shown as a black square symbol

Changes and improvements

New data pop up: After the reception and import of new data, the database window pops up and the red cursor line shows the new examination.

PeriData window on top: When started out of the patient record of the EMR software, the program window was sometimes hidden by other windows. Now it will be moved on top. Also after the reception of new data, the window will be moved on top.

Corrupted data records more visible in the database list: Since the version 3.7.0, PeriData is more alert for erraneous dates. In case of inprobable or incomplete birthdate or examination date, a general notification for the entire database is shown. Since version each damaged data record is marked additionally by arrows before and after the >>>>>>patient name>>>>>> and can be corrected specifically by the function "Change Data" (context menu).

Missing COM ports disabled: In the Options dialog, not-existing COM ports now are inactive (grey)

Device connection improved: In the Options dialog, all perimeter types are listed in particular (instead of data format types). And the help texts were revised. The device connection is now running better and quicker.

Viewing Mode is default: In a local network, most workstations use PeriData to view only the data. Therefore, the option "Viewing Mode" is set to ON when the app is installed for the first time. If a perimeter is connected, the option will be turned off automatically to allow data import.

Help improved: The Help function was continously revised. Many messages have better text and some got a help button providing additional information. And it always pays out to press F1 and look for a keyword.

Support routines improved: More log files are written. And the program messages are improved. This helps our support team to identify the origin of problems easier. In the last month we could see a considerable effect.

Sort function has speeded up: Large databases (without Link Mode) are now sorted in a tenth of the time.

ONEPAT LinkMode: The commandline parameters /FIRSTNAME: and /NAME: may have arguments with spaces, if they are enclosed in quotation marks. Details see ONEPAT specs

Terminal-Server and Citrix-Server: The perimeter options are now stored to the user registry (instead of LocalMachine). If the file "PeriWin_Opt_Are_User_Specific.txt" exists in the standard "Exchange Directory", the options files PeriWin.opt and PeriRx.opt are not important any more, but only a backup. The server operation is easier to configurate and runs more stable.

Bug fixes

Special characters (Umlaut) and capitals: There were problems in some cases. Now even very seldom special characters in the patient name are treated correctly, and sorted logically. In the link mode, the Capitals and small letters are imported correctly.

Grayscale maps and color maps: In the case of irregular testpoint patterns (G1/G2 programm, some Oculus programs) had not always an ideal interpolation, defect zones could be elongated. Now the representations are rather realistic. Do not forget that interpolation is always an artefact.

Trend analysis with OCULUS: In the trend comparison to results from other perimeter types and manufacturers, the identification of examinations with matching test point patterns is now working in most cases.

OCULUS class strategy: The central point is shown as threshold value as usual with the Oculus program (instead of a defect depth value). The correction works also with all stored data.

Windows Versions: The installation with Windows XP and Windows 7 works now again. All operating systems up to Windows 11 are supported, with one exception: Windows 10-32bit was not modernized by Microsoft and blocks the installation of PeriData. If you need support, call the hotline.

Registry: The registry value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ WOW3264Node \ PeriData \ PeriWin Shell \ Installation \ ProgramDirectory is not existing any more. The environmental variable %PeriDataProgDir% is preserved
